Campus Sustainability
Join Us in Making Our Campus a Model for Sustainability.

The Wittenberg Sustainability Task Force continuously works to maintain a campus that is environmentally responsible and that embraces an eco-conscious culture.

This group relies on gifts from alumni, faculty, and staff to support the following initiatives:

1) Composting: In partnership with Parkhurst Dining, Wittenberg collects food waste from its CDR kitchen and sends it to a compost facility rather than a landfill. With increased financial support, we can make composting more widely available across campus.

2) Native Plants: We are working to create a habitat for pollinators on our campus. In the past two years, we have created three native plant gardens. Your financial support will allow us to further enhance our landscape through the use of native plants, as well as provide us with the opportunity to do more public education.

3) Tiger Move-Out: When students moved out last May, they donated more than 5,000 pounds of reusable items to thrift organizations, an increase of more than 1,000 pounds from the previous year. Students also donated 386 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank, as well as 239 different food items to Wittenberg’s Campus Cupboard. Your donations can help us better promote Tiger Move-Out and keep even more food and items out of the landfill and into the hands of those in need.

4) Eco-Living Opportunities on Campus: Students living in the Eco House held a vegan and zero waste dinner for other students on campus and installed energy-saving curtains, which will remain in the house for future student use. We are also partnering with Residence Life to have floors in dorms that focus on environmental sustainability starting next year. You can help us support these models of sustainable living in housing both on and off-campus by providing funding for programming or events.

Join us this #Commit2Witt day as we create an eco-conscious Wittenberg!
